Clarifications:  The following clarifications of the Code of Conduct have been made to protect the safety and privacy of our students.  Clarifications to the current Code of Conduct are shown in yellow.

CELL PHONES, CAMERAS, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Cell phones and other electronic devices (Including but not limited to cameras, iPods, mp3 players) must be turned off and stored in the student’s locker during the school day.  They may be only used after school and outside of the building but NEVER on a school bus.  Teachers will confiscate all cell phones/electronic devices for any violation.    Bryant Middle School is NOT responsible for lost or stolen cell phones/electronic devices.

·        OSS will be assessed if a:

Student is using a cell phone during the school day;

·        A student will lose his/her right to bring a cell phone or electronic device to school if:

The cell phone rings in class;

The student is playing with the cell phone/electronic device anywhere during the school day;

Any use of the cell phone/electronic device creates a distraction to the learning process;

·        If a cell phone or other electronic device is confiscated, a parent/guardian must come to the school to retrieve it and the student will be assigned detention.  If a phone is confiscated a second time, the student will be suspended from school.

·        Taking pictures in school can cause a disruption to the learning environment and can violate the rights of others.  The possession of any device that has the capability to take pictures or video is strictly prohibited.  Any student found taking pictures without the consent of Mrs. Peterson or Mr. Hartley will face suspension from school.

Is your child tired all of the time?

Something to consider regarding cell phones and other technology:  Students have reported being very tired to some of their teachers.  Upon being asked why, they explained that they are up late texting and playing computer games.  I had a similar situation with my daughter in high school.  I never dreamed she would be texting in the middle of the night but she was.  So, she had to turn her cell phone off and put it on my dresser by 9pm every night.  If your child appears tired, consider whether or not texting, playing on the computer or other things are keeping them up at night.  Mrs. Peterson
