Police Situation in the Bryant School Community – Wednesday, March 14th

By now, many of you are aware of the police situation that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the neighborhood near Bryant Middle School. For those who may not have heard the details I would like to take just a moment to provide a brief update.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. Dearborn Police informed us they were responding to a police situation in the neighborhood near our school.  Police identified the exact location of the possible situation and established a safe perimeter that included Bryant Middle School.  We were asked to keep all doors locked and all students inside.

Around 3:30 p.m. police identified the situation as a hoax and the “All Clear” was given. A short time later we dismissed students.

Once again, I would like to make clear that at no time did this situation involve our school or our students. The lock down was done as a precautionary measure and is another example of the excellent relationship we have with the Dearborn Police.

We understand the heighten awareness we all have when it comes to school safety. One of the best ways to keep our schools safe is by continuing to keep an open line of communications between the school and parents.  Please feel free to contact me at (313) 827-2900, if you have any questions or comments.  By working together we can ensure that Bryant Middle School will always be a safe place for learning.
