All students of middle school or high school age must produce a student ID upon request. The purpose is to provide identification for both the safety of the students and as an avenue toward accountability for behavior.
To date, we have only been alerting students to this new policy – considering this a learning period for them. In December, however, we will require students to have identification. Library staff will not be able to ask all students, but will do random checks and those students who are asked for their I.D. and do not have it, will be asked to leave the library until they bring their I.D. with them.
