Pancake Dinner to Benefit Duvall Family – Wednesday, December 2nd

Last week Chad Carr’s battle with cancer came to its diagnosed conclusion.  On the same day, DuVall Elementary School first grader Lexys Lamp lost her battle with the exact same type of cancer as Chad, DIPG an inoperable brain tumor.

The Carr family shared their emotional journey with many in hopes of raising awareness of pediatric cancer and raising funds for research.  Local print and television media covered Chad’s memorial service and social media exploded with caring thoughts and prayers for the Carr family.

The Lamp family shared their emotional journey with the DuVall community who embraced the family, holding fund raisers to help them cover medical expenses, and even threw a special princess birthday party this past summer to make Lexys birthday a very special day.

The story behind the journey of these two families may be rather different but unfortunately the inevitable sad conclusion is the same. They have both suffered a very tragic loss leaving them emotionally drained and deeply saddened. It is an emptiness that only those who have lost a child can know.

The Lamp family is struggling financially and is in dire need of help. The DuVall community is once again embracing their neighbor and coming together to help the Lamp family in their time of need.

A Pancake Dinner to benefit the Lamp family will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd in the DuVall Elementary Cafeteria, 22561 Beech, Dearborn 48124 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

In addition, the DuVall community is continuing the Adopt-A-Family outreach as a way to support Lexys’ family.  They will accept wrapped gifts in the DuVall School office through December 4th.  Lexys left behind a 6 year old cousin, Arianna, who she called her sister. As a school community, DuVall is working to make Arianna’s and the Lamp family Christmas as bright as possible. Sign up for adopt a family at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0e49aeab2ba75-duvall1
