Cybersafety Parent Meeting

On Tuesday, March 5th, the Michigan Attorney General’s office will present a cyber safety and internet assembly for students and parents at Bryant Middle School.  Parents are invited to join us at 11:00am for this educational event.

Students will also attend assemblies on March 5th.  Students will be instructed to stay safe by not sharing any personal information, keep away from internet strangers, and continue to tell parents or trusted adults about anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.  Students will also learn ways to respond to cyberbullying.  Sixth through eighth grade students additionally are cautioned about revealing personal information on social networking sites.  They are taught not to share inappropriate material via cell phones and about long term consequences that can occur.  Several videos are incorporated in the sixth through eighth grade presentation to drive home the importance of responsible online behavior.  Students will be provided with an Online Safety Contract to discuss with parent(s) or guardian(s).  All students were given an informational, parent letter to bring home with more information.  If you wish to check out the videos, please go to www.michigan.gov/csi.

We hope to see you at this event.
