Drop off and Pick up still a concern

We have received many complaints from parents and neighbors regarding the drop off and pick up situation here at Bryant.  Student safety MUST be our top priority.  I have asked the police for their support in this matter.

The police have asked me to pass on the following information:

  • There is no differentiation between “parking” and “standing” when it comes to a driver sitting in a car that is located in a “no parking” area.  The vehicle is “parked” whether it is occupied or not.
  • You must park 30 feet from stop signs.
  • You must park 20 feet from crosswalks.
  • There is no parking within an intersection.

Sec. 18-345.  Parking prohibited in specified places.

(a)   A person shall not park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or traffic control device, in any of the following places:

(1)   On a sidewalk or that portion of a street marked for pedestrian use, or on the unpaved portion of the street right-of-way lying between the street and sidewalk.

(2)   In front of a public or private driveway.

(3)   Within an intersection.

(4)   Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.

(5)   On a crosswalk.

(6)   Within 20 feet of a crosswalk, or if none, then within 15 feet of the intersection of property lines at an intersection of highways.

(7)   Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign, or traffic control signal located at the side of a highway.

(8)   Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 30 feet of points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a different length is indicated by official signs or markings.

If school personnel asks you to move your car, please do so for the safety of all of our children.

Thank you!
